Traditional Kitchen Project | The Lookout

Kinsale, Co.Cork

Boasting one of the most breathtaking views overlooking the mouth of the harbour, this open-plan living space called for a compact kitchen without sacrificing functionality. The classic in-frame shaker cabinetry pays homage to the back of the home’s historic character, while its bold, moody green hand painted finish transforms it into a striking focal point.

Accents in aged brass—seen in the hardware and Perrin & Rowe tap—perfectly complement the maritime setting without leaning into clichéd nautical themes.

Concealed behind reeded glass doors, a bespoke drinks area awaits—featuring a hot pink baize lined wine rack, crafted specifically for the alcove beneath the property’s stairs. This unique detail adds a playful yet sophisticated touch to the space.

The Bora cooktop with a downdraft extractor ensures the stunning sea view remains uninterrupted, while subtle, vintage-inspired Fritz Fryer pendant lights add warmth and character overhead.
